Brian had a day off [again, its the 4th one this week] so we decided to go to
Miyajima
island again so that Averie could see the deer and we could take the
ropeway up to the top and check out the great views! It started
sprinkling on our way there, and by the time we got off the ferry, it
was a full blown rainstorm! My exact words, "lets get back on the boat
and go home now"....were ignored by my tennis shoe wearing husband,
while me in my $5 flip flops looked back at the dry ferry with regret!
Luckily we had 2 umbrellas and Jagger was sleeping in the ergo....so i
was dry from the waist up, but my feet and legs were a different story!
Ava was dry in the stroller with her umbrella covering her, until she
saw her first deer and had to jump out and say Hello- while she was out,
the stroller seat got soaked, so she trooped around the rest of the day
with a wet bum! Brian, went inside a souviner shop and bought a
$5
super cheap, umbrella that ended up in the trash can before we got
home, but it kept his head dry for a couple hours at least!! Anyways, we
found our way up to the bus stop, to the cable car and rode to the top
only to sit inside for about 20 minutes before coming back down...we
were the last people up there and we all kept having "
this movie"
flashbacks....so we hurried to get on the last car down before they
closed up shop for the night! All the workers probably thought we were
crazy for dragging a 4 yr old, a baby, a backpack with our picnic, and a
stroller up the hill in the pouring rain! (i agreed with them)! We
ended up having our picnic in the cable car on the way up with hill...i
ate my sandwich in 2 seconds...i was too nervous the cable was going to
slip and we were going to drop to our demise...[it was rickity and the
rain was coming down in sheets]! But we did survive, and even tho we
didn't make it outside once we got to the top {that's a lie, Brian and
Averie attempted to walk out to the look out station, but the "cheap"
umbrella didn't hold up to the wind and Brian didn't feel like getting
soaked more than he already was] we took a few "self timer" pics inside
the information room and got some funny ones of our "spit up king"
jagger!
