This was our friend.....but only for a few hours and actually, Averie cried when she saw him, so I guess he was just my friend!! When we were driving to the zoo today, I almost ran over what looked like a turtle...so I slammed on my breaks, shifted to reverse and jumped out to confirm what i saw!!! I walked up and thought to myself...someone prob has a camera on and are waiting to see who the dummy is that stops to pick up the "fake" turtle....
But, as you can see in the picture, he was real and alive!!!
I got back into the car and ava instantly started crying...she was freaked out!!! Since we were already on our way to the zoo, i figured i could find somoene to help me in there- well I couldn't carry him with me, (what dork carries a turtle to the zoo) so I stuck him under the stroller in the little cargo area and he toured the zoo....probably happy he wasn't stuck in there!!!!
I looked for someone to help and when I finally found the ranger, he told me that I should not have picked him up....oh, so I should have left him the middle of a busy street so he could get ran over? Guess so!
I would have kept the little thing, but i was worried it may have some sort of disease and as adorable as he/she was I know Nothing about turtles! So after we left the zoo, i let him go out in the park..... ByeBye Turtle!!!

ReplyDeleteWe saw a couple turtles at our FL rental last year... they were the BIG ones. I got as close as I could, so Shelby and I could get a good look. Later, I told Brian, and he said it was probably one of those snapping turtles (I think he was joking... trying to scare me).
BTW - like your new blog look... sweet.
Glad you saved the turtle even if the Ranger said you should have left it where it was:)
